Snow-Buddy Knows the Snow I’ve Seen

We’ve all dealt with a lot of snow and some ice lately.  The last few storms were too wet to allow for snowflake photography:-(   …But, I did get a number of really interesting flakes before the warm air flowed into the last few storms.  I’m posting 3 larger images of some really nice flakes, two of which are positioned next to some frozen water – a nice curved line to add a little composition to the image; so it’s not just a flake all by itself.  When I can I try to compose a photo…just like any other image: light, lines, texture…in this case frost and ice making a nice curved line at the top of the image.  Hope you enjoy.

This IS another flake all by itself.  This flake had a very nice center and overall detail, so I thought I’d show it by itself.

One last image, again with a little composition in mind as a curve of frozen water and some frost pass along the top of the image.

No Business Like Snow Business

It has been a good while since my last post and the snow sure has been falling.  I’ve put-in over 16 hours of snowflake harvesting!   Very few good images created with the blizzard and the following Nor’ Easter as these storms tend to pull in moisture from the ocean (warmer air) and make for some less than pristine, symmetrical snowflakes.  The past few storms have been much better for great looking flakes!  So, below are just a few; I’ll post more soon.  A note about these flakes.  They are particularly small in size.  Most are very hard to see with the naked eye, but have some of the more interesting detail I’ve seen in a while – Enjoy!

Greg Bianco Photography – Winter Blog

Welcome to Greg Bianco Photography  –  I am a Hollis, New Hampshire Photographer  Specializing in Dance, Grads, Family, Pets and Professional Head shots.

I know I’m jumping the gun a little bit with the winter theme, but since the last of the oak leaves fell all around the studio last night during the cold November rain I figured we could either make believe the fall colors where still around, and Winter wasn’t one cold night away from happening, or embrace the idea of winter, snow and the holiday season – Let’s embrace it!

Here on the blog you will see some photo sessions images and a fair bit of my personal work.  I can’t wait for the first snow and opportunity to capture more snow crystal images.  What better way to kick off the season than with a few snow crystal images from past seasons.   If you like what you see be sure to check back throughout the winter and after each snow.  I have some image ideas that I can’t wait to try this year!
